Historical definition of GIRONNÉ, ÉE
Terme de Blason, qui se dit d'un Escu divisé en plusieurs girons. Quand il est gironné de huit pieces, on l'appelle absolument gironné. D'autres l'appellent parti, couppé, trenché & taillé, parce qu'il est fait par ces divisions de l'Escu, y ayant quatre girons qui forment un sautoir, & les quatre autres une croix. Quand il y a plus ou moins de girons, il en faut exprimer le nombre.
