Historical definition of POUT DE SOYE s. m.
Grosse estoffe toute de soye, toute unie & sans lustre, qui a un grain pareil au gros de Naples, & un peu moins serré que le gros de Tours, mais qui jette un gros grain. Il y a apparence que ce mot est corrompu de tout de soye. Il differe de la ferrandine, en ce que celle-cy a de la laine couverte de soye.
