Historical definition of PALMITE s. m.
C'est la partie interieure du gros du tronc du palmier, & c'est le point d'où comme d'un centre partent toutes les branches de l'arbre. C'est une substance blanche comme du lait caillé, extremement tendre, & d'un goust plus doux & plus agreable que les meilleures confitures, & on ne doit point craindre d'en manger par excez.
