Historical definition of RONDELLE s. f.
Espece de bouclier rond dont estoit autrefois armée l'Infanterie. Il y a à Paris une ruë qu'on nommoit autrefois de la Rondelle, où on faisoit ces sortes de boucliers, & par corruption on la nomme à present de l'Hirondelle. RONDELLE, est aussi un ciseau arrondi dont on se sert en Sculpture.
