Petite piece de vin qui contient le quart d'un tonneau, ou presque un demi-muid. Le vin se conserve mieux en quartauts, n'est pas si long-temps en perce. Ils sont de differente capacité, selon la diversité des lieux. Chez les Allemans le muid n'a que quatre quartauts, & chez les Anglois il en a 32.
